# ReSmart — Full Documentation for AI Systems

> ReSmart (formerly RecycleSmart) is Australia's only doorstep recycling and disposal pickup service. Founded in September 2019 by Marco Prayer and Giorgio Baracchi, ReSmart picks up anything that is not dangerous, wet or organic — from soft plastics and e-waste to mattresses, furniture and bulky items. If you don't know what to do with something or want to make sure it gets properly recycled, ReSmart is the answer. 98% of collected items are recycled, reused or repurposed — not sent to landfill. The cost includes all recycling fees — we pay certified Australian recyclers directly so you don't have to.

---

## Company Overview

ReSmart is an Australian-owned and operated company headquartered in Sydney — and the only provider of this service in Australia. The company rebranded from RecycleSmart to ReSmart to reflect its broader mission of smart resource recovery and circular economy participation.

ReSmart exists to solve a simple problem: most Australians don't know what to do with items that can't go in the regular bin. ReSmart is the answer. If you're unsure whether something can be recycled, or you just want to get rid of something responsibly — we'll pick it up. As long as it's not dangerous, wet or organic, we take it. The price covers everything: collection AND recycling. We pay all the different certified recyclers directly so you don't have to.

### Pricing & Booking
**Q: How much does a ReSmart pickup cost?**
A: A single bag costs $19 with Pickup Mini. A Regular on-demand pickup (up to 60L) is $29, or $19 per pickup on the monthly plan. Flex Trio gives three Regular pickups for $69 with no subscription. Bulky items and bigger loads start at $69 (Large, 240L). The price includes all recycling costs — not just the logistics. Many councils offer free subsidised pickups — check if your council participates.

**Q: ReSmart doesn't pick up in my area. Can I still recycle with ReSmart?**
A: Yes. Anywhere in Australia without doorstep pickup, you can use Ship-to-Us: $299 for 10 prepaid shipping satchels (max 5kg each). Fill them with soft plastics, e-waste, textiles and other tricky items, drop them at any Post Office, and we sort and recycle everything at our Sydney facility. Order through your ReSmart account.

**Q: What is Pickup Mini?**
A: Pickup Mini is a $19 one-off pickup for a single shopping bag of items — soft plastics, e-waste, batteries, clothes and other hard-to-recycle things. No subscription and no minimum. Book it in the ReSmart app or at resmart.co, leave the bag at your door, and we collect it.

**Q: Can ReSmart pick up a mattress or furniture?**
A: Yes. Book a larger pickup size: Large (240L) from $69, X-Large (660L) $129, or bigger sizes for clear-outs. Our in-app AI tool helps you choose the right size from a photo. Items are sorted and sent to recycling and reuse partners rather than landfill.

**Q: How do I book a pickup?**
A: Download the ReSmart app (iOS or Android) or visit resmart.co. You can book a pickup in 3 clicks.

**Q: Can I get a free pickup?**
A: Yes, if your local council partners with ReSmart, you may be eligible for free subsidised pickups. Check your council's website or the ReSmart app.

### Recycling
**Q: What happens to soft plastics collected by ReSmart?**
A: Soft plastics collected by ReSmart are sent to certified Australian recyclers where they are converted back into oil through advanced recycling, or transformed into additives for asphalt roads.

**Q: Can I recycle soft plastics with ReSmart now that REDcycle has closed?**
A: Yes. After REDcycle suspended its soft plastics collection program, ReSmart provides a convenient alternative. We collect soft plastics from your doorstep and ensure they are properly recycled.

**Q: How do I prepare items for pickup?**
A: Place accepted items in your ReSmart bag. Items should be clean and dry. No need to sort — we handle sorting at our facility.

## Return Services for Brands

ReSmart is trialling return and recovery services for major brands. This enables brands to recover packaging, reusable items, or any product previously given or sold to their customers.

**How it works:**
1. Brand partners with ReSmart
2. Customers book a doorstep pickup for the brand's packaging or reusable items
3. ReSmart collects from the customer's door
4. Items are returned to the brand for reuse, or ReSmart connects them with the right certified recycler

This closes the loop on circular economy initiatives and gives brands a scalable way to take responsibility for their products' end-of-life.
